Trip to Multnomah Falls, Oregon

WHAT IS MULTNOMAH FALLS

Multnomah Falls is the highest waterfall in the state of Oregon and the second-highest year-round waterfall in the nation.

The first supermassive fall is 542 feet and there is a second fall that adds another 69 feet of height.

Multnomah Falls in Oregon is one of the top attractions in the Columbia River Gorge.

MULTNOMAH FALLS DIRECTIONS

The journey takes about 30 minutes from downtown Portland via East on I-84.

You take exit 31 on the left to enter the main parking lot for Multnomah Falls. There is no parking fee or pass required.

To get to the falls from the parking lot, take the tunnel just south of the visitor information booth. You will cross the street and see the lodge to your right and the path to the falls directly in front of you.

Inside the lodge, you will find a restaurant, snack bar, gift shop, washroom, and an information center with trail maps for the falls and surrounding Gorge.

To see a more beautiful view and experience the entire waterfall, we need to climb a little to the Benson Bridge.

TIPS FOR VISITING MULTNOMAH FALLS

I suggest visiting in the offseason to avoid the big crowds of people. During winter, you have to check the weather because the road is too slippery and a large amount of snow is covering the area.

I also suggest arriving early. Parking space is widely available and we have more time for hiking. You can see more beautiful scenery.

Here is a link if you want a more scenic route to the falls.
